2025 MOTA Winter Fest: Illuminating Pathways in Occupational Therapy

 

 

The Missouri Occupational Therapy Association is excited to introduce our First Annual Mid Winter Learning Fest! This two-day virtual event happening on February 21-22, 2025 from 11am - 2pm CT is designed to offer a rich blend of continuing education, professional development, and peer-to-peer engagement—ensuring you leave with valuable insights to enhance your practice and connect with fellow professionals.

Join us for two days of virtual sessions focused on occupational therapy across various settings, covering both practice environments and the unique needs of individuals affected by disease or injury. Participants can earn up to 6 CEUs to support their professional development. The event also offers valuable networking opportunities, allowing you to connect with peers, share experiences, and exchange ideas. Interactive Q&A sessions will provide the chance to engage directly with speakers and ask questions.

 


Winter Fest Schedule


Day 1


Session 1


  • Speaker: Jacque Sample
  • Topic: Impact of the Updated MO State Guidelines for School-Based Practice
  • Description: A review of the recent changes in Missouri’s state guidelines for school-based OT practices and their potential impact on service delivery, compliance, and practice in school settings.

Session 2


  • Speaker: Jessie Bricker & Jenny DeBourge
  • Topic: Supporting the Diverse Needs of Today’s OT Students on Level II Fieldwork
  • Description: An in-depth look at the challenges and solutions for supporting OT students during their Level II fieldwork placements, particularly addressing the diverse needs they bring to the field.

Session 3

  • Topic: Cognitive Interventions and Handwriting

Day 2


Session 1

  • Topic: MOTA Hill Day
  • Description: An overview of MOTA Hill Day, its significance, and how it shapes the advocacy for occupational therapy practices at the state and national levels. How professionals and students can get involved.

Session 2


  • Speaker: Isabelle Laposha
  • Topic: Feeding Assessment for the Pediatric Population
  • Description: The presentation will outline the definition of Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) and its four associated domains (medical, nutritional, feeding skill and psychosocial dysfunction), which provide a useful framework to guide evaluation.

Session 3


  • Speaker: Jacque Sample
  • Topic: MOTA Town Hall
  • Description: This session is where members gather to discuss important updates, share insights, and address key issues facing the field. It offers an opportunity for networking, collaboration, and fostering community engagement.
