A native St. Louisan, Paul Henry Young is a world-renowned neurosurgeon. He received his undergraduate and medical training at Saint Louis University. He completed his internship at UCLA Harbor General Hospital in Los Angeles and his residency in neurosurgery at Saint Louis University. He studied microneurosurgery during a fellowship at the University of Zurich, Switzerland under Professor M. Gazi Yasargil, recognized internationally as neurosurgeon of the century.
Dr. Young is a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery and Center for Anatomical Science and Education at Saint Louis University. In addition, he is the founder and director of the Microsurgery and Brain Research Institute of St. Louis (MBRI), providing research and training for international students in microneurosurgery. He is also the founder and director of the Practical Anatomy and Surgical Technique Workshop (PASE) at Saint Louis University. An international center for continuing education and first of its kind in the world, the PASE facility is widely regarded as the finest hands-on educational facility for healthcare professionals. Dr. Young is a Board Member for the Foundation for International Education in Neurosurgery and representative for Africa volunteerism. He is on the Manuscript Review Board for World Neurosurgery, the Board Chair for Mercy Clinic South and a Board Member for Mercy East.
